Belgium Lowers Weekly Gambling Loss Limit to €200

The Belgian government is implementing a reduction in the weekly gambling loss limit. The new cap will be €200, equivalent to approximately $220. This represents a significant adjustment from the previous limit of €500.

The government’s objective is to safeguard citizens from excessive financial losses. They’re also making it simpler for individuals with gambling issues to access support. They’re expanding the list of establishments where gambling is prohibited for those on the problem gambling registry to include betting shops.

At this time, this instrument seeks to hinder individuals who might have voluntarily barred themselves or been otherwise documented from entering gambling establishments and slot machine centers. The governing body acknowledged that the registry is “without a doubt a highly effective instrument in battling gambling dependency.”
