The American gambling market is still in its early stages, and bettors are heavily reliant on affiliate and media websites for odds and insights. This dependence is propelling these sites to the forefront of search rankings, with CBS Sports and ESPN taking the lead.

**Affiliates and Media Reign Supreme in US Gambling Search Rankings**

The US gambling industry is still in its infancy, and gamblers are turning to affiliate and media websites for guidance in locating odds and information. This trend is giving these sites a significant edge in online search rankings.

A recent report from Pi Datametrics reveals that the sports betting affiliate Oddshark holds the largest share of search results for all gambling-related queries. They occupy the top spot in Pi Datametrics’ rankings, followed closely by the affiliate and news site PlayUSA. Media giants like CBS Sports and ESPN also secure positions within the top ten, with the official NFL website rounding out the top ten.

The online encyclopedia Wikipedia claims the sixth position, indicating that bettors are seeking a deeper understanding of gambling.

Prior to May 2018, the timeframe encompassed by the report, there was minimal new market development activity, resulting in a scarcity of genuine online gambling websites featured in the rankings. Only Bovada.lv, operating without authorization, secured a position within the top twenty.

Regarding category search volume, the overwhelming majority of searches were linked to American football, representing nearly two-thirds of searches conducted between December 2017 and November 2018. Nevertheless, Pi Datametrics observed a downward trend in search volume for the sport, experiencing a 12% decrease from August 2016 to 2018. Search volume for American football typically reaches its zenith in September, coinciding with the commencement of the NFL season.

Concurrently, search volume for horse racing generally peaks in May, aligning with the Kentucky Derby, while search volume for basketball experiences an upswing from March each year, when the National Basketball Association (NBA) conducts its annual draft.
