Gannett Inks Exclusive Deal with Tipico for Sports Betting and Online Gambling

The American media conglomerate, Gannett, has inked an exclusive agreement with Tipico, the US branch of the sports betting and gaming firm.

Tipico has secured a $90 million media arrangement with Gannett, the proprietor of USA Today, designating Tipico as the exclusive sports betting and online gambling provider for Gannett. Gannett owns the USA Today website, along with a variety of other regional media holdings across the US, including the Indianapolis Star and the Oklahoman.

This agreement supersedes Gannett’s partnership with the BetMGM joint venture between MGM-Entain, signifying that the media company will now promote Tipico’s odds rather than BetMGM’s.

Tipico will incorporate odds, props, free games, and betting patterns into the USA Today website and has pledged $90 million (£65 million/€76 million) in media expenditure over the five-year contract. The operator will also provide Gannett with performance incentives for customer referrals.

Gannett will have the option to acquire up to 4,990 shares of common stock in Tipico’s US operations, signifying a minority stake, if specific conditions are fulfilled during the duration of the agreement.

In return, Gannett will grant the operator exclusive rights to utilize high-quality marketing resources. The cost for these materials will be established in advance and will be determined by the total sum of cash, performance incentives, and the privilege of receiving common stock.
