Monster Monday Bingo Ad Deemed Too Enticing to Children by UK Watchdog

The United Kingdom’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) lately decided against Buzz Bingo regarding a Halloween-centric advertisement, stating it was overly enticing to young audiences. The advertisement, appearing on Facebook, displayed an animated graveyard setting with jack-o’-lanterns, flying mammals, and an eerie lunar presence. It publicized a “Monster Monday” bingo event offering a £50,000 reward.

Despite Buzz Bingo’s assertion that the advertisement was directed at grown-ups over 25 on Facebook, the ASA believed the animated visuals were too comparable to imagery found in children’s literature and animated films. Buzz Bingo withdrew the advertisement and is currently reevaluating its authorization procedures for upcoming marketing endeavors.

The term “monster” was considered excessively enticing to young audiences in a Buzz Bingo promotion, resulting in criticism from the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

Although Buzz Bingo endeavored to rectify the situation, the ASA determined that the advertisement was irresponsible and violated regulations prohibiting the promotion of gambling to minors or in a manner that could be alluring to them.

Consequently, the advertisement has been prohibited from further circulation, and Buzz Group has received a caution to ensure that all subsequent promotions avoid themes or visuals that might be appealing to individuals under the age of 18.
