Allwyn Appoints Mark Hughes as Chief Security Officer to Lead National Lottery Security

The UK National Lottery’s designated successor, Allwyn, has named Mark Hughes as its new Chief Security Officer. Hughes, whose tenure commences on January 15th, brings extensive expertise to Allwyn. As a vital member of the executive leadership, he will guarantee the lottery’s security as Allwyn gears up to formally assume its operation on February 1st.

Prior to joining Allwyn, Hughes played a pivotal role in safeguarding the UK’s smart meter deployment while serving as Chief Information Security Officer at Smart DCC. Before that, he dedicated 16 years to Vodafone, ascending to the position of Head of Corporate Security for their UK operations. During his time at Vodafone, he spearheaded security operations and compliance initiatives, collaborating closely with government and intelligence entities to implement stringent security protocols.

Allwyn UK’s CEO, Robert Chvátal, stressed the paramount importance of security, particularly as the company prepares to modernize and transition the National Lottery into the digital age. He extended a warm welcome to Hughes, underscoring the crucial part Hughes will play in ensuring a secure and prosperous future for the lottery.
